Join us for a fun and relaxed introduction to hand embroidery! Whether you've never picked up a needle before or just want to try something new, this workshop is a great way to explore the craft of hand embroidery and get into the holiday spirit. We'll learn a few basic embroidery stitches, including backstitch, chain stitch, satin stitch, and French knots, and practice using them to create simple, festive designs. During the workshop, you'll create an embroidered sample on linen fabric to practice your new skills and take home. Once you've mastered the basics, later you can use the same techniques and designs to embroider your sweatshirts or tshirts, cloth Christmas ornaments, or just about anything else you can imagine! This workshop is designed for kids (I recommend ages 8+ since we'll be working with needles) and adults who are complete beginners. No experience or special skills are needed, and we'll work together step by step at a comfortable pace. All materials are included: embroidery hoop, linen fabric, embroidery floss, needles, and a selection of beginner-friendly holiday designs. Come enjoy some cozy creative time and learn something new!

The Cauldron Theatre at Spark & Spell Presents... It’s Cold Inside A One-Act Holiday Play Feeling stifled by her boyfriend, Noah, and caged by her small town, Mia fled to Los Angeles for a shinier life without once looking back. Now, twenty years and one divorce later, Mia has finally returned “home” for Christmas, only to find that while most things seem unchanged, her family and Noah continued their lives without her. Racked with whatifs, resentment, and regret, Mia escapes the dinner table on Christmas Eve, and heads to the roof, where she and Noah used to frequent. She has a chat with their “ghost”, feels judged by Santa, and is confronted with the devastation of her leaving after Noah follows her out onto the rooftop. Old passions stir, tensions sizzle, and they are both faced with the question: what do you do when the one-who-got-away is suddenly back? It’s Cold Inside is a One-Act Holiday Play that explores the fear of true intimacy, the aching void of regret, and the small ember of hope that the one person who truly knows you, might want you again. In this mixed media art class, children will explore abstract art through painting, drawing, collage, texture and creative play. Together, we’ll fill our own art journals one page at a time while building confidence, experimenting with new materials and discovering that there is no right or wrong way to create. Our journey ends with a special mini gallery show, where family and friends are invited to celebrate each child’s creativity and artistic growth.
